1. Calpurnia’s tyranny, unfairness, and meddling in my business had faded to gentle grumblings of general disapproval.
Tyranny : Unfair and strict control over someone

Unanimous : of one mind; in complete agreement; agreed.

3. Plucking an occasional camellia, getting a squirt of hot milk from Miss Maudie Atkinson’s cow on a summer day, helping ourselves to someone’s scuppernongs was a part of our ethical culture, but money was diffferent.
Camellia : any of several shrubs of the genus Camellia, esp. C. japonica, native to Asia, having glossy evergreen leaves and white, pink, red, or variegated roselike flowers.

Ritual : A ceremony that is always performed in the same way, in order to mark an important religious or social occasion.

Gothic: Frightening things that happen in mysterious old buildings, and lonely places in film.

6. Jem’s evasion told me our game was a secret, so I kept quiet.
Evasion : The act of avoiding doing something that you should do, or an example of this behaviour.
