Diana: Is it morning yet?

Nigel: No its a little after 1.

[Nigel puts cardigan on Diana]

Scene 2 – Outside house, looking at Ms Maudie’s burning house

[Scout stares at shock at the house which was on fire]

Diana: Whos house is it ?!

Nigel: Its Ms Maudies.

[Atticus turns to Jem]

Nigel: Listen, i want the both of you to go in front of the Radleys Place. Take care of your sister ok?

Crystal: okay.

[Atticus gives a push to Jem and Scout]

Scene 3- Fire truck scene

[Jem and Scout standing outside the Radleys place]

Crystal : Why is’nt the fire truck here yet?

Narrator: As the weather was too cold, the old fire truck was immobilized.

Diana: OH MY GOD!

[Jem puts arm around Scout]

Crystal: Shh it’ll be okay.

Scene 4 – Mr Avery jumps off the window

Crystal: Shout, he’s stuck …

All : MR AVERY ! GET DOWN FROM THERE !

Diana : Oh no ! Jump Mr Avery !

[Mr Avery/Yuenicec throws down cloth and jumps on it]

-Use fake smoke on a stick(?) to cover houses-

Narrator: Smoke was rolling off their houses like a fog off a river bank.

Narrator: The fire truck began pumping water on the houses.

Scene 5 – After Fire

Nigel: Anyone wants hot chocolate?

[As diana drank cocoa, Nigel looks at her]

Nigel: Whos blankey is that?

Diana: What ? i don’t know…

In the introduction, we see Yuenice talking and then, walk up the stairs while i zoom into the top-right background of that scene, and then i add a “black-white” and “aged film” effect to show a transition from our time to the time during the Japanese occupation. The scene which shows the words scrolling up describe the starvation amongst the civilians. We used Leona Lewis’s “Better in Time” as we felt that its introduction was a sad one.

The next scene, which shows Cherie running from Kim is actually a scene depicting a Chinese girl not showing respect to the Japanese soldier, therefore, ended up being chased and shot. We added some humor to that scene so as to not let the class get bored.

Then we went on to the scene where Yuenice is talking about the Sook-Ching massacre. After that, we went on to take a top-down shot of Kim exchanging something with someone. He is actually using banana note to buy a sack of rice from the black market. The sack was a prop we got on the spot for $2! Kim bought it from the souvenir store.

For the credits, we used some pictures such as: execution of a pow(prisoner of war), surrender chanbers etc. We used a theme called “Reflections Black” to put all pictures used and come clips together. Clips include bloopers.

Aside from CONTENT, we will be grading you on presentation skills. The best groups will be presenting your project to the Lower Secondary Assembly. =)

Basically the presentation must cover the following:

1. All scripts, storyboards, photos etc should be posted with everyone’s comments on how these
answer the project task question you have been assigned (You MAY choose to extract certain quality postings/responses to showcase during your presentation)

2. The actual movie/documentary and photo journal can be displayed.

3. You should also post blog entries discussing the oral presentation and how you would organise it
to make it interesting for the audience. Your oral presentation should address the following
processes:

a) What’s your project question /task and what is your understanding of this question? How have you
managed to answer this project question through the project research and work you have done?

b) What were the roles and responsibilities of each member and what was done to ensure that
everyone contributed? What problems were encountered and how did you solve these as a group?

c) Explain your concept of the documentary and how does this documentary answer the project task
focus or question. Explain clearly why you have chosen to present the dicumentary in this way ,
explain the ideas behind the way you plan the storyboard, the different scenes and why certain
scenes are chosen and what you intend to show with these ( include details abt camera angles/shot
types, music, narration text, sequence of scenes, focus of video and what is the message you wish to
communicate). The same questions can be applied for the photo journal

d) Reflection on Learning – must be specific in terms of what skills esp thinking skills, analysis skills,
planning skills, team management skills, visual skills, history skills, language related like writing
skills, presenting information etc

Scout (jean Finch)

-Found a chewing gum on a tree and ate it.

-Listened to what Jem said when he wanted to tell on her to Calpurnia.

-Relationship with Calpurnia got better.

-Sat in the tire and rolled down straight into Radleys porch.

-Could not get up, dizzy and nauseated.

-Acted as Mrs. Radley in their game.

-Quit the game because she heard someone laughing inside when she rolled into Radleys porch and Atticus arrival.

She acts rashly. She just ate a chewing gum, which she found on a tree, which is quite disgusting. She didn’t like to get in trouble. She is also not quite brave as she is afraid to get scolded by Atticus.

Jem(Jeremy finch)

-Scolded scout for eating the chewing gum, which she found on the tree.

-Threatened scout to spit out the gum or he will tell on her to cal.

-He warned scout not to go near that tree.

-He saw tiny shiny packing on the tree.

-Inside were two coins.

-When the tire rolled into Radleys porch, he ran and grabbed the tire, which he did not wanted to.

He thinks about his sister and doesn’t want her to get in trouble. He a little afraid when he went to retrieve the tire on Radleys porch.

This picture shows a farm house in Alabama.I chose this pictures as it show me that Alabama is a tired old town.The trees all seem to be dying from the hot weather.The place looks deserted which tells me that Alabama’s population is very small thus everybody knows each other.

I went to search for ’Alabama homes pictures 1930′ as what I had read in chapter one, it says ‘Maycomb was an old town, but it was tired old town..’ and also, ’Somehow, it was hotter than; a black dog suffered on a summer’s day..’ Thus, after interpretating this two sentences, it tells me that Maycomb have not much old houses, very spacious, and the weather is scorching hot during the afternoon. Therefore, I chose this picture as it shows an old house, the grass is very dry and the plants are wiltering soon.

1. Calpurnia’s tyranny, unfairness, and meddling in my business had faded to gentle grumblings of general disapproval.
Tyranny : Unfair and strict control over someone
He longed to escape from the tyranny of his aunt.

2. Mrs Dubose lived two doors up the street from us; neighbourhood opinion was unanimous that Mrs Dubose was the meanest old woman who ever lived.
Unanimous : of one mind; in complete agreement; agreed.

3. Plucking an occasional camellia, getting a squirt of hot milk from Miss Maudie Atkinson’s cow on a summer day, helping ourselves to someone’s scuppernongs was a part of our ethical culture, but money was diffferent.
Camellia : any of several shrubs of the genus Camellia, esp. C. japonica, native to Asia, having glossy evergreen leaves and white, pink, red, or variegated roselike flowers.

Scuppernongs :A cultivated variety of the muscadine grape with sweet yellowish fruit.

4. Lemonade in the middle of the morning was a summertime ritual.
Ritual : A ceremony that is always performed in the same way, in order to mark an important religious or social occasion.

5. His worth perfomance was Gothic.
Gothic: Frightening things that happen in mysterious old buildings, and lonely places in film.

6. Jem’s evasion told me our game was a secret, so I kept quiet.
Evasion : The act of avoiding doing something that you should do, or an example of this behaviour.

4. She was furious, and when she was furious, Calpurnia’s grammar became erratic.
Erratic : having no certain or definite course; wandering; not fixed
Sentence : Her decision is erractic, she can change her decision in the last mintute.

5. When in tranquillity, her grammar was as good as anybody’s in Maycomb.
Tranquillity : quality or state of being tranquil; calmness; peacefulness; quiet; serenity

6. Atticus said Calpurnia had more education than most coloured folks.
Coloured folks refered to the ‘Black’ people.

7. Jem and Walter returned to school ahead of me: staying behind to advise Atticus of Calpurnia’s iniquities was worth a solitary sprint past the Radley Place.
Iniquities: The quality of being very unfair or evil, or something that is very unfair.

8. I returned to school and hated Calpurnia steadily until a sudden shriek shattered my resentments.
Resentments: A feeling of anger because of something has happened that you think is unfair.

It is phenomental that he behave in such a manner and yet he get first in class.

I was fascinated by her beautiful voice.
Caroline always have a fasination for stories about solving mysteries.

contemptuous : Showing or expressing contempt or disdain; scornful.
He smile in a contemptuous way to the teacher.

12. Burris Ewell was flattered by the recital.
Recital : A performance of music or poetry, usually given by one performer.

13. The boy’s condescension flashed to anger.
Condescension : An act or instance of condescending.

14. He was among the most diminutive of men, but when Burris Ewell turned towards him, Little Chuck’s right hand went to his pocket.

She is the most diminutive among her friend.

I detest answers whch are monosyllabic.

19. In Maycomb country, hunting out of season was a misdemeanour at law, a capital felony in the eyes of the populace.
Misdemeanour : Law. a criminal offense defined as less serious than a felony.
